COMMUNITY IMPACT

The Michigan Outback Relay is more than just a race—it’s a way to give back. A portion of the race proceeds directly supports Michigan Special Olympics, helping to further their mission. Additionally, teams and local businesses can sponsor race legs, with personalized messages of encouragement or friendly banter published in the leg directions, adding a fun and meaningful touch to the event.

The relay also benefits the local communities we pass through. With nearly 1,000 participants, the event brings a surge of activity to small towns, boosting local businesses as runners stop to restock supplies, refuel at restaurants, and find lodging. The race also contributes to local schools, churches, and other organizations that assist with race weekend logistics.

At its core, the Michigan Outback Relay is more than a test of endurance—it’s a celebration of the human spirit, a tradition of giving back, and a way to support the communities that welcome us along the way.
